Happy International Women’s Day!!! This post is dedicated to all the beer drinking ladies out there!
There’s always been this misconception that only men drink beer. Not true! I know lots of women who drink beer and enjoy it. And fun fact, some of us ladies can out drink some of the boys we hang with. Haha!

Many people also think that the beer industry is filled with all men, but that too is false. In one of my earlier post about Beer facts states that one of the first creators of beer was a woman. Pretty cool if you ask me.

According to the National Women’s History Museum – Women’s involvement in brewing beer has been documented back to 4, 000 years ago in Mesopotamia, and possibly earlier. Ancient Sumerians even had a goddess of beer, Ninkasi. Historically, women were involved in brewing, since it was seen as another domestic task. Also women were the ones who resumed the roles as tavernkeepers and is likely the ones who brewed their own beer.
To this day, there are still plenty of female brewmasters out there. So, I raise my glass to you. Keep up the great job!!
Drinking beer with men can be a lot. Trust me, majority of the time, my drinking buddies are men. Don’t get me wrong, I love each one of them and I really don’t mind. But for you ladies that feel the need to get away and hang out with another gal or two, why not find an all ladies drinking club, like the Society of Beer Drinking Ladies.

Founded in 2014, the SOBDL wanted to create small events where women who loved beer could get together and hang out. So the next time you want to hangout with the ladies, check out their website.
So here’s to all of you ladies on International Women’s Day.
Yes! I love how far women and beer have come. Used to be considered so ‘unclassy’ for whatever reason! I still have a mom who tries to get me to drink beer out of glass rather than the bottle haha…takes time and double standards still exist but at least they are changing rapidly! I’ve also heard of the society- or at least I knew there was one in Toronto. I love that it exists! Have you been to any of their meetings?
