We The North

So did anyone catch the Toronto Raptors game Saturday night? If you didn’t, you missed out!

Now normally during the week I can’t really watch the series because I’m asleep before the game even starts, but Game 6 was a treat because I was able to watch the whole game.

We decided to head to our friend’s Chris and Kelly’s for a little BBQ and some local Ontario beers to celebrate the Raptors!

Premium Pilsner – Big Rig Brewery – Ottawa

This beer is light and refreshing.  Some consider it as a German-style pilsner.  It contains a malty sweetness.  This style is lighter in colour and body.  The beer is 5.2% ABV (Alcohol by Volume).

Our average rating: 3 out of 5

Patent Pending – Bell City Brewing Co. – Brantford

Belgian Style Stout – Spearhead Brewing Company – Kingston

This is another German-style pilsner with a 5.2% ABV.   It’s considered a smooth black ale. Brewed with a special kind of sugar with curacao orange peel and coriander.

Starboard New England – Lake of Bays Brewing Company – Baysville

Starboard is a New England style IPA with a 5.4% abv.  This beer is a little breezy and a little bold.  It has strong citrus flavours with a hint of strawberry.

Our average rating:  4 out of 5

Long Pond Lager – Bayside Brewing Co. – Erieau

This is a Canadian lager that is 5% ABV.  This is Bayside Brewing Co.’s flagship beer.   This beer has a light crisp finish with caramel, toffee and citrus flavour.

Our average rating: 3.75 out of 5

Impeachmint -Ernest Cider – Newmarket

Impeachmint is a cider that is 5.7% ABV.  This cider uses 7 varieties of Ontario apples and lightly sweetened with local honey.  It’s a medium gold colour with flavours of apple, honey and flowers.

Our average rating: 2.75 out of 5

No Name – Loblaws (President’s Choice) – Brampton

Yes, that’s right, Loblaw’s came out with a No Name Beer if you haven’t heard already.  This lager is 5% ABV.  It delivers a crisp finish and makes it easy taste.

Our average rate: 3 out of 5

Now for those that missed the game, you definitely missed out. To give you a quick rundown, the Raptors were down for most of the game. They came back in the 4th quarter to beat the Milwaukee Bucks 100 to 94.

On to the finals!! Let’s go Raptors! Cheers!!
